Vinyl and luxury vinyl plank flooring imitates natural materials

wood floors is a multi-layer, synthetic flooring that is hard to distinguish from the natural materials it imitates. Luxury vinyl plank, or LVP, looks like hardwood while luxury vinyl tile flooring, or LVT, looks like hardwood, stone, or ceramic. Planks and tiles are durable and waterproof, as well as stain and scratch-resistant. Family-owned Chuck Kraft Carpets offers a large assortment of both types of vinyl flooring. You can find popular styles from top manufacturers in our showroom in Manchester, PA.

LVP

LVP is available in numerous wood species like perennial favorites oak, maple, and hickory. Planks come with a traditional smooth texture or trendy wire-brushed, hand-scraped, or distressed texture. LVP has four layers: backing, core, design, and wear. The realistic design is created with high tech digital imaging technology. Most often, the edges of planks are designed to click and lock together so the floor can float over the subfloor. LVP can be installed over existing hard surface floors.

LVT

LVT offers a range of looks from time-worn hardwood to elegant marble. Many brands are installed as floating floors, but some are glued down. Like LVP, the tile has a four-layer composition. Since the wear layer protects the design layer, thicker is better in terms of durability. A wear layer of 20-mil or more is appropriate for the most active households. Underlayment is placed beneath the flooring to absorb impact from footsteps, muffle sounds, add insulation, and make the flooring more comfortable underfoot.

Most durable brands

The toughest vinyl floors are designed to be pet-friendly and to stand up to daily wear and tear in the busiest homes. These waterproof brands usually have a wood-plastic composite core or a stone plastic composite core. Wood byproducts are the main component in a WPC core, while an SPC core contains limestone. Vinyl flooring that includes one of these types of cores is not damaged by moisture. Planks and tiles will not warp or peel even if they are covered by standing water for an extended period.
